Team Name: Pukuni Community House

IDEAS Project Pitch: The Pukuni Community House brings world-class educational resources to the heart of the Amazon rainforest.

The Pukuni Community House, inspired by the community houses of the indigenous people of the Amazon rainforest, is an energy autonomous, community-size education and communication hub. The project is powered by next generation photovoltaic solar energy and, by using low-energy/low-cost hardware and highly optimized software and content, provides the inhabitants of the Kapawi community with internet connectivity and educational resources tailored for their needs.

The project is the first of its kind to provide an integrated solution to internet-based education and communication. Each element of the project will be designed through an user-centered design approach, adapted to the social, cultural and environmental context of the Ecuadorian Amazon, and the Kapawi community.
